Were working to raise $1 million to build a safe home, said Fahim, who serves as Vice President of Haven International, a nonprofit that provides resources and refuge for individuals recovering from trafficking. These are people facing unimaginable hardship, and our mission is to give them safety, dignity, and a path forward.
Human trafficking remains a global crisis. An estimated 27.6 million people worldwide are trapped in forced labour or sexual exploitation. Many survivors lack access to shelter, legal support, and long-term rehabilitation. Fahims advocacy is rooted in both urgency and empathy.
As leaders, we have a responsibility to use our platforms and skills in service of others, she said. Its not just about being effective at workits about multiplying your impact.
The interview also explores how Fahim bridges her technical expertise with practical innovation. She led the creation of a patent-pending AI system to help global teams manage product incubation. That system, born from a UC Irvine capstone, is now in use across KPMGs global network. But for Fahim, the tools are only part of the story.
Innovation isnt a solo breakthroughits a series of sparks, supported by structure, she said. My focus is to build frameworks that enable others to bring their ideas to life.
The same principle applies to her community work. In addition to her role at Haven, Fahim chairs the Development Committee of the Hillsborough College Foundation, helping expand access to education and career pathways for underserved populations.
Leadership without service is incomplete, she said. Whether Im working with students, startups, or survivors, I try to make space for people to step into their full potential.
